There are some great options for commuting by bus in Central Indiana, including fixed-route bus service, door-to-door providers and CIRTA Workforce Connectors.

Workforce Connect

CIRTA operates two shuttle services to worksites in Plainfield and Whitestown. Once a day at 5:10 a.m., the shuttles depart from a stop on Washington and Delaware in downtown Indianapolis and go directly to the worksites. The rest of the day, the shuttles pick up at IndyGo stops and head to the worksites. Rides are free.

Regional Bus Routes

Anderson

CATS – City of Anderson Transportation System
CATS offers six fixed routes within the City of Anderson. Buses operate Monday through Saturday on all but seven holidays.

Indianapolis

IndyGo – Indianapolis Public Transportation Corporation
With 31 fixed routes and more than 3,000 bus stops throughout Indianapolis, IndyGo takes you where you need to be. So, hop a bus to catch a flight, get to class, get to work or just get out on the town.

Bus service to Indianapolis International Airport
IndyGo Route 8 provides affordable, frequent public transportation connecting Indianapolis with the airport.

Hendricks County – Plainfield

Plainfield Connector offers weekday and Saturday service between the west side of Indianapolis (via IndyGo Route 8 – Washington St) and the warehousing/industrial park district of Plainfield, including The Shops at Perry Crossing, as well as the Allpoints Midwest industrial park in North Plainfield/Avon.

Boone County – Whitestown

Whitestown Connector offers weekday and Saturday service between the northwest side of Indianapolis (via IndyGo Route 37 – Park 100 and Route 86 – 86th St Crosstown at the Traders Point Shopping Center) and the Allpoints at Anson industrial park in Whitestown.

Johnson County

Access Johnson County offers fixed route service in Greenwood, Whiteland and Franklin. These routes connect with IndyGo Routes 16, 22 and 31.

Muncie

MITS – Muncie Indiana Transit System
MITS provides fixed route bus transportation within the Muncie city limits. Fifteen routes provide service Monday through Saturday on all but six holidays.

Shelbyville

The ShelbyGo Loop circulates on weekdays in Shelbyville.

Other cities

Private companies offering intercity bus service within Indiana include FlixBus, Megabus, and Greyhound.
