Earth Day: Events and Activities in Central Indiana

Earth Day is almost here! We at CIRTA-Commuter Connect love celebrating our beautiful Earth, and we encourage all our fellow Hoosiers to do the same. We’re here for some inspiration and ideas to celebrate Earth Day in Central Indiana! This year, Earth Day falls on Saturday, April 22nd but there are events happening all week long. Earth Day at the Jewish Community Center (JCC) Event

The JCC is hosting an Earth Day and Israel celebration at the Laikin Auditorium on Sunday, April 13 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.! The event will feature educational and fun activities about Israel, such as Israel advances in science, a petting zoo, obstacle course, and more. Patrons can also enjoy Israeli-themed appetizers and desserts, as well as Earth-friendly booths from local organizations. Children’s Museum of Indianapolis: Earth Day Celebration

If you’ve got little ones, we recommend you check out Indianapolis’ wonderful Children’s Museum. This phenomenal institution has been a part of the Indianapolis community since 1925 and is the world’s largest children’s museum! On April 22nd, they’re hosting a public Earth Day celebration where you and your child can participate in special hands-on activities and hear from local experts about how you can take environmental action. Earth Day Indiana Benefit Concert: Jason Wilber and Meghan Cristeen Martin

The phenomenal non-profit organization Earth Day Indiana is teaming up with Indy Folk Series on a Jason Wilber and Meghan Cristeen Martin fundraising concert. The concert will benefit environmental activism, and feature Jason Wilber, an Indiana-based folk artist well-known for his spectacular guitar skills, as the headliner. The concert will take place at the Indy Folk Series venue in Indianapolis from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on April 22nd, and tickets are $30 online. Earth Day Art Workshop

Art of the Heart in Beech Grove, IN is hosting an Earth Day art workshop event featuring two fun projects that are centered around celebrating our beautiful planet. Join owner Allie Bishop from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on April 22nd to make your own wildflower seed bomb and hand painted terracotta planter. These are both fantastic items to facilitate your home garden and appreciate the beauty of nature! Reserve your spot today!

Plant Pop-Up Sale and Swap: 8th Day Distillery

Want to get some new plants on Earth Day? Look no further than Indianapolis’ 8th Day Distillery, which is holding a fun 21+ event where you can grab a drink while browsing a collection of common and uncommon plants to bring home. You can also participate in the Plant Swap if you have leafy friends to spare. There will also be a selection of plant merchandise, including t-shirts and pots, available for purchase! This event will take place from 3:00 PM-6:00 PM on Saturday, April 22nd. RSVP for free here!
